Susan McNulty Acupuncture in Ludlow, Vermont for Headache Relief

There are many reasons one may experience headaches and Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs can be very successful in resolving chronic headaches.  But did you know Biofeedback techniques can be very useful, too?  Next time you have a headache from stress or fatigue, try this simple visualization technique and see if it works for you.  It’s effects can be immediate and significant.  And don’t forget to drink plenty of water as often a headache is one of the first signs of dehydration.

Find a comfortable position where you can relax, undisturbed.

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Calm yourself and go within.

Begin to imagine that your hands are very, very warm. Imagine what they might feel like if you slipped them into mittens that have just been warming on the radiator. Imagine how warm they would feel if you were warming them over a campfire or if they were wrapping themselves around a comfortably warm rock. Use your imagination to begin to feel your hands are warm.

Now, at the same time, begin to imagine that your head is very, very cold. Use your imagination to do this. Maybe you imagine wearing a football helmet that is made of ice. Perhaps you imagine yourself outdoors on a very cold day all bundled up and protected from the chilly conditions but that your hat is missing and your head has become quite cold. Maybe you picture an icepack sitting atop your head. Use your imagination and notice whatever pictures pop into your mind until your head is cold.

Hold these two feelings simultaneously. Warm hands, cold head. Begin to notice your headache is diminishing. Imagine the blood flow to your head has relaxed and any constriction that was contributing to your headache is loosening and opening up. Continue to stay in this calming state, holding the intention of your headache dissolving, until you feel yourself relax more deeply as the headache drains.

Take a few more deep breaths as you notice what has changed.

Welcome to Susan McNulty Acupuncture.  Here you will find the holistic healing services I offer and the classes and workshops I teach.

If you are interested in  natural approaches to health, longevity and well-being it is my wish to make my services available to you.  I have studied  natural methods of pain relief for over 30 years as an Acupuncturist.   I practice other forms of BodyMind Medicine for restoring health and well-being at the energetic level such as Reiki and Quantum Healing.  I teach Tapping/EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to those who want better balance of emotions and to be free of negative thought patterns.

I am constantly on the look-out for natural cures and alternative approaches to pain and disease.  The body has an innate ability to heal itself if we can discover the optimum environment and lifestyle practices that promote wellness of body, mind and soul.  It is in the balance of this trinity that our greatest health can be realized.

It is my sincere wish to be in service to those I might help and to teach them how to promote their own innate ability to heal.

May all beings be happy.  May all beings be well.
